Osedax Heights are a series of sculptures made from materials salvaged from areas of regeneration. They are formed into totemic forms that act as a transitional beacon between the old material identity of the neighborhood and that of the new. Osedax is a species of bone worm found in the Benthic zone. They live in the bones of fallen whales and slowly restructure them over time as they consume and carve the lipids buried within the bones. In the subtitles of the works are Geotags or clues to the areas where the materials are salvaged linking the fairly generic source materials in a globalized world market to a sense of place and time. An ongoing project, these simple forms have been made in response to several neighborhoods in London, UK and Toronto, Canada.
