Stonelickers

Stonelickers is a series of drawings of the mouth and teeth of several species of Lamprey. The name Lamprey comes from Latin 'lampare-petra' roughly translated as 'Stone-lickers.' These are juxtaposed with images of rotary tools used for grinding stone and metal creating a relationship between teeth used to shape flesh and tools used to shape stone steel and wood.   Done with simple flat line work these simple shapes erode to an iconography of similar but different: a taxonomy of these specialized systems of erosion.
